Rachel Eskin Fisher
Rachel is a tutor, teacher, and storyteller. She has a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MFA in Screenwriting from Long Island University. She co-produced and directed the historical documentary Joachim Prinz: I Shall Not Be Silent, has written scripts for several short films, and has published essays in multiple media outlets. Rachel has taught writing, filmmaking and screenwriting in classrooms at UCSB, LIU, CUNY and other colleges and has been tutoring high school and college students in writing since grad school. Prior to moving back to her hometown of Philadelphia and joining Craftwell, Rachel was a writing coach at CTK College Coach in Maplewood, NJ. Rachel loves connecting with students on an intellectual and personal level to help them tell their stories in their authentic voice. Because of the unconditional support that students feel, they end up taking risks and rising to the challenge of getting their writing to the next level.
Rachel’s personal essay coaching not only helps students get into college, but just as importantly, it helps them know themselves better and become critical thinkers and better writers.
Rachel is a mother of two, one a college graduate and the other a college junior. She volunteers with Changing the Conversation, an organization that engages in deep canvassing to encourage people to vote. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband of over thirty years, Dan, where they love hiking in the Wissahickon Valley and trying great restaurants in different neighborhoods around town.
